    is it legal in NZ for parents to be able to ring up phone company and get a print out of my text history. they brought me my fone but im the one who tops it up every month and its under my name.

    your parents are responsible for you until you turn 18 and in some states it's 19 or 21. they have every right to check and if you have nothing to hide you should not mind you should thank them for caring and wanting you to be safe.

    If you are under 18 and/or have not been emancipated, I believe that it is legal for your parents to get a print out of your text messages. You might wish to ask your local legal aid.

    They do it for your safety. If you are going over your limit they may just be seeing why. Unless you are paying for the phone and minutes with your own money I say yes they have that right. Remember that trust is earned not given.
